Exploring Sustainable Agriculture: A Day at Korinya Farm Gate

Writer: Cummins Area SchoolCummins Area School

Today, Miss Indiah's Foundation class went on a farm tour to Korinya Farm Gate, where students had the opportunity to explore regenerative farming principles in a hands-on and age-appropriate way.

During the tour, the students learned about farming practices and sustainability, focusing on how the farm supports its stock with specific nutrients and the way paddocks are cultivated to meet their needs. They also gained insight into the process of paddock to plate.

One of the highlights of the trip was the interactive milking demonstration, which the children really enjoyed.

We went on this excursion with the goal of creating a culture of ‘CREW,’ especially since so many of our students have farming backgrounds or simply love being outdoors and gardening. It was a wonderful opportunity to foster relationships and build on our school’s Habits of Character—Community, Integrity, Personal excellence, and Courage. The excitement from the excursion has sparked a lot of interest, and we’re looking forward to diving into more farm-related activities and lessons in the coming weeks.
